Frequently Asked Questions
What Are The Benefits of Using The Hook-Lift (roll off style) Dumpster System?
We are one of the few companies that use the hook-lift and rolloff dumpster system to place containers at your location. This dumpster rental system has several important attributes:
- Unlike the roll off system used by others, the hook-lift allows us to drop off dumpsters in tighter areas.
- Some of the dumpster delivery trucks we use to carry our containers are smaller than those used with the track-cable system, allowing us to place containers in tighter spots and on less-sturdy surfaces.
- With our hook-lift dumpster system we are able to softly place containers on the ground instead of literally dropping them as roll off trucks do. What this means is that we treat your concrete, asphalt and lawn gentler than they do.
- Unlike our competition, we offer a small 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 40 yard dumpster rentals that are perfect for those small jobs in tight spaces, up to those larger jobs for complete renovations or commercial work projects.

Is There A Weight Limit?
Yes. Standard dumpster rentals have the following weight limits: 10 yard dumpster rentals have a 2 ton weight limit, 15 yard dumpster rentals have a 3 ton weight limit, 20 dumpster rentals have a 4 ton weight limit, and 25 yard dumpster rentals have a 5 ton weight limit. If you are loading heavy material such as dirt, rock, concrete, brick, sod, shingles, or asphalt, please contact Rhino Dumpsters office for instructions on loading.
Note – Asphalt Shingles/Roofing Dumpsters: We offer a flat rate dumpster rental with no weight limit for asphalt shingle. Please call for specific dumpster loading instructions.
Charge for weight of contents beyond limit specified above: $125 + per ton over your initial limit (final cost depending on county and dump fees).
NOTE: Do not over-fill your dumpsters with tonnage! A dumpster that is too heavy cannot be moved and will result in a wasted-trip fee!
Can I Fill The Dumpster To The Top?
All materials must be inside the hook-lift dumpster, nothing over the top of container. By law, we are required to tarp each dumpster for transport. We cannot pick up a container that is over-full. You will be responsible for removing excess and a $175 return trip fee will be charged to return and pick-up the dumpster.
How Long Can I Keep The Dumpster?
The standard dumpster rental period can be from 1 day to 1 week, though the average is 10 days. A fee of $10 per day will be added for every day over your reservation period that you keep your dumpster!
Will The Container Be Picked-Up Automatically?
No. We will not return to pick up your dumpster until you call us. That means you can keep the dumpster for as long as you need! However, there is a $10 per day fee added to your rental cost for every day over your reservation that you keep your dumpster.
Will The Dumpster Damage My Property?
We respect your property and make every effort to ensure no damage is caused. Protective barriers are placed between your property and our hook-lift dumpsters to ensure no damage is done.
Can I Move The Container?
No. We will do our best to place your container in a convenient and safe space, you may not move container. Moving container causes damage to underside. If damage occurs, you are responsible for the cost to correct.

How Much Is A Cubic Yard?
A cubic yard is 3’x3’x3′ and weighs nearly 1 ton for sand or dirt, but much less for most construction and trash materials. Most personal pick-up trucks carry 2 cubic yards of material. Rhino Dumpsters can help you estimate the size of the hook-lift dumpster or container you will need.
How Much Does Trash Weigh?
Below is a chart showing the approximate weight of various kinds of typical waste contents.
As the renter of the dumpster, you are responsible for the contents of the container and any damage that occurs to our container while on your site.

Can I request a specific delivery time?
Because our drivers may experience delays at the landfill, at previous customers’ properties or due to traffic conditions, we cannot guarantee an exact delivery time.
Your dumpster will arrive anytime between 6 a.m.- 6 p.m. on your delivery date. We will take requests for delivery times but cannot guarantee that the driver will be able to meet them.
Remember though, you only have 24 hours after making your appointment to cancel or change it! After that we charge a $150 cancellation fee! If your reservation is a next-day or same-day reservation and you cancel, the cancellation fee still applies.
Should I be home for delivery or pickup?
There’s no need to be present for delivery or pickup. On delivery and pickup day, just make sure the area where you want the dumpster placed is clear and not blocked by cars or anything else that may prevent us from accessing the spot.
Please also be sure the dumpster is loaded properly, with nothing sticking up over the top or hanging over the sides.
NOTE: Do not over-fill your dumpsters with tonnage! A dumpster that is too heavy cannot be moved and will result in a wasted-trip fee!

When your dumpster rental arrives? (Check out this video!)
The best way to manage a dumpster rental is in first ensuring that you’ve chosen the right dumpster rental company to partner with. From there, you want to identify and prepare the location on which the dumpster is expected to sit. Consider where you want to put your rental carefully. The wrong position can be a huge inconvenience to you or even your neighbors. Ensure the driver can easily access the location and ensure you don’t need to get any special permits to host it, such as if you intend to have it on the street.
Additionally, be sure you know how much to fill your dumpster and that you're ready for your dumpster to be picked up when scheduled!! An overfull dumpster, generally more than 75% full, or a dumpster not ready to be picked up as scheduled will result in a wasted trip fee of $175! If you have more tonnage than what your dumpster can carry in one load, extra tonnage will be $125+ per ton (price may vary)! Click the link for more info!
